BearBoat Chardonnay is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from a single vineyard in the Russian River AVA. Russian River’s cool climate allows the grapes to retain acidity while slowly developing aromas and flavors. Fruit is harvested by hand in small containers with the philosophy that higher attention to detail yields higher quality. Whole clusters are pressed for gentle handling to bring out pure fruit aromas and flavors. 30% of the must is fermented in stainless steel to retain fruit freshness. A portion of the wine (60%) goes through malolactic fermentation for added hints of butter and acidity balance. Bearboat 2006 Chardonnay has a straw color with aromas of ripe apple, vanilla, toast, and spice. Voluptuous body with buttery texture. Balanced acidity with a well integrated oak. Lingering finish with notes of butterscotch. |
