VINEYARDS
Syrah from 3-5 year old vines were blended for this wine
Syrah plantings have increased dramatically in Washington state as the
varietal thrives in the region’s unique growing conditions
Long, warm growing season, resulting in ideal ripeness and complexity
Grapes are grown on the Wahluke Slope, one of the warmest areas in
the state
Vineyards receive only 6-8 inches of rainfall annually
Drip irrigation is used, allowing precise control of growth patterns, forcing
the vine’s energy into fruit production
VINIFICATION
After crushing, grapes were fermented on the skins
Twice-daily gentle pumpovers to extract color, lush flavors and tannins
After 5 days, free run juice placed in small stainless steel fermenters
10 months barrel aging in French oak (67%) and American oak (33%),
7% new
Gravity racking every three months to naturally filter the wine
Represents Snoqualmie’s fourth vintage of Syrah
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
“A yummy mouthful of ripe black fruit such as blackberry and blueberry,
with soft mocha overtones. These flavors are elegantly balanced with the
wine’s crisp acidity and its lush, supple tannins. Has a beautiful long finish
that shows off a hint of sweet oak.”
