In France, the local bistro is where folks go to relax, socialize, drink wine and dine in a casual, friendly setting. Barton & Guestier's Bistro Chardonnay is crafted to embody the qualities of a good bistro wine, with classic fruit expression, lively acidity and inviting drinkability. After gently crushing the grapes, they allowed a short maceration on the skins to achieve aromatic complexity. A long, cool fermentation captured the inherent vibrancy of this varietal and was followed by aging in stainless steel.
Opening with a golden straw color, this lovely Chardonnay emits intense aromas of white peach and Gala apples. Across the palate, vibrant tropical pineapple adds bright acidity to the voluminous stone fruit and ripe apple, developing notes of hazelnut and vanilla across the long, aromatic finish. With a supple roundness and lively fruitiness, this wine has a fine balance of flavors that pairs well with anything from grilled chicken to creamy pastas, or it can serve simply as an apéritif.
