La Provençale was inspired by the joie de vivre lifestyle of southern France. It is an extroverted, easygoing blend of four varietals: Syrah, Grenache, Carignane, and Mourvèdre. These grape varietals originally came from Provence and the Rhône, where vines were first planted more than 2,000 years ago, coinciding with the Roman conquest of France (then called Gaul).
Syrah forms the backbone of the blend, with its spicy berry expression, bright acidity and fine tannins. They chose Carignane for its juicy, dark fruit character of plum and blackberry, with hints of raspberry sauce, chocolate, saffron and smoke. The Grenache adds raspberry, wild strawberry and a whiff of bay leaf, while the splash of Mourvèdre completes La Provençale with nuances of violet and autumn spices. Enjoy this zesty, approachable wine with Mediterranean flavors, such as pork loin or lamb roasted with fresh herbs.
