The grapes for this wine have been sourced from Angoves vineyards and growers across South Australia. Sites such as the ancient sea beds near Padthaway, and above the limestone cliffs next to the Murray River are carefully chosen to produce a wine which is more than the sum of its parts. Water restrictions early in the season saw careful irrigation policies followed. This leads to low yields and intense flavours. The cool lead in to the harvest allowed the ripe juicy fruit flavours to develop without losing acidity and balance. Picked late at night to harvest the grapes as cold as possible the grapes were transported to the winery and pressed using modern membrane tank presses. After cold settling the clear juice was carefully racked to cooled fermentation tanks and inoculated with selected yeasts. Cool fermentation was followed by minimal handling, filtration and bottling at the Angove's winery. Bright pale straw with green hints, this wine shows abundant white peach and citrus on the nose. The palate is soft and luscious with nectarine and lemon flavours being supported by spicy vanillin oak. |
