Planted on quite sandy soil with a flatter gradient, the wine is early to ripen and always shows its characteristic raspberry/plum, blackberry fruits intertwined with mint and other herbs. A very voluptuous wine which is always a real crowd pleaser.

"Ripe and distinctive. Spot-on wild blackberry flavor at the center, with all the floral and spicy attributes smoothly integrated. The finish sails on and on against a polished texture. Drink now through 2016. 500 cases imported. –HS" -Rated 91, Wine Spectator

"From another ancient vineyard composed of sandy soils overlaying clay, the 2004 Grenache Kangarilla is a big, up-front, exotic, fruit-dominated effort displaying loads of mountain berries, blackberries, white pepper, herbs, and spice. While not the most complex of these Grenaches, it is a lush, fleshy, beautifully-textured example to enjoy over the next 8-10 years." -Rated 92, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Winemaker Roman Bratasuik calls Kangarilla “quite a warm spot,” and that character is evident in this wine’s dark blackberry and plum flavors, soft, open-knit texture and warmth on the finish. It’s a lush, sexy wine with tons of appeal in its youth—why wait? — J.C. (12/15/2006)" -Rated 92, Wine Enthusiast

"Dense purple. Explosive aromas of strawberry and black cherry liqueur, candied plum, fresh rose, Indian spices and licorice. Lush, concentrated and ridiculously deep in sweet, liqueur-like red and dark berry flavors. The palate-saturating fruit shows remarkable depth as well as striking clarity. Bright acidity perks up the sweet finish, which seems to build forever. Lovely wine, with an almost surreal display of fruit. " -Rated 93, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
