The 2006 Acacia Lone Tree Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir comes from their crown jewel Pinot Noir site in the Los Carneros region. They’ve planted the vineyard to a diverse selection of Pinot Noir clones, giving this deep, ruby-purple wine its layers of luscious flavors. The aromas and flavors express lush back cherry, dark plum and blackberry character, with hints of rose, earth and truffle. Beautifully integrated vanilla and toasted oak nuances add complexity, while the balanced acidity and fine-grained tannins structure the wine. The finish lingers with delicious notes of plum and chocolate. Enjoy this elegant wine with grilled salmon or swordfish, wild mushroom risotto and herb-roasted chicken, pork, lamb or duck.
After cold soaking of the must for gentle flavor extraction, winemaker Matthew Glynn bled off some of the juice (called saignée) to intensify flavors. Fermentation in open-top fermenters and nine months of sur lie barrel aging developed this wine’s rich, silky expression.
