This is a classy wine, even with a screwcap, and it doesn’t need a critter on the bottle to grab one’s attention. It has a lucent pale straw color and gives off bright aromas of lemon-lime citrus, orange blossoms, a touch of fresh cut hay, and a suggestion of minerals. This follows through with vibrant citrus and ripe melon flavors, gooseberries, fresh lemon-thyme herbs, gravel, and an undercoat of vanillin oak. The wine starts tight and tingly and then relaxes into a suave and slightly creamy texture. There’s good balance and texture with the right touch of acidity in the finish. This wine shares many of the characteristics with a good New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc or a French Sancerre.
