The wine's perfect marriage of ripe fruit and French oak barrels creates a bouquet of cherry and black berries with hints of cedar and spice. In the mouth this Merlot has a generous, soft, smooth texture that hugs your tongue and the flavors linger in your mouth for a long, long time. This is a Merlot that will gain in complexity and silkiness with age.

Supple, juicy and flavorful, with red plum, tobacco, earth and herb flavors nicely framed by bright acidity; at once plump and savory. Finishes with good length and slightly dry tannins." -Rated 88, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar Untitled "Even with its high ripeness in plain view, this wine is still mostly controlled by the winery penchant for tight, ageworthy bottlings. Its first sniffs of sweet cherries and caramelly oak bring invitation aplenty, but the wine is far less open on the palate where green tea and cherry notes are bound up on puckery tannins that ask for some five years of cellaring." -Rated 88, Connoisseur's Guide to California Wines
