"Beautiful and focused on the nose, with blackberry, dark chocolate and currant. Full-bodied and round, with very soft, succulent tannins and a long, rich finish. Balanced and delicious. Best after 2009. 4,000 cases made. –JS" -Rated 91, Wine Spectator
"Banfi’s 2004 Sant’Antimo Summus is a French-oak aged blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. It is a rich, weighty wine with a soft-textured expression of fruit, excellent length and fine tannins. Unfortunately there is very little expression of each variety’s unique qualities, suggesting this is a wine made more in the cellar than in the vineyard. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2019.
Banfi makes a wide range of internationally-styled wines from its vast holdings in and around Montalcino." -Rated 89, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Summus (a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet and Syrah) is a brawny, powerful wine with meaty extraction and layered aromas of plum, blackberry and cherry. These fruity notes are framed by elegant mineral tones. - M.L. (4/1/2008) " -Rated 92, Wine Enthusiast
