Sbragia Home Ranch Vineyard, which has been farmed by the family for decades, is located on the East side of Dry Creek in Sonoma County, California. The eight-acre Merlot vineyard sits on the flatland of Dry Creek Valley, and area that had a propensity to flood before the Dry Creek Dam was built. As a result, the soil features rocky clay loom components, which contribute to great drainage in the vineyard.
Sbragia's winemaker makes the red wines the way his Dad taught him; keep the barrels clean and topped,k and the wine will take care of itself. The 2005 Home Ranch Merlot bursts with bright black cherry, rhubarb and rose petal aromas and offers a fruit forward palate of black fruit and mocha with hints of dried herbs and a subtle toasty character. Velvety tannins make this wine very food friendly and a long, soft finish makes you want to go back for another sip.

Drink now through 2011. 1,090 cases made. –TF" -Rated 87, Wine Spectator Untitled "Sbragia’s 2005 Merlot Home Ranch exhibits chocolate, mocha, caramel, and berry fruit characteristics, medium to full body, and silky tannins. Enjoy this lovely Merlot over the next 5-7 years." -Rated 88, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
