The 2006 harvest was an excellent vintage for the Russian River Valley. After a slow, wet spring, the vintage moved along quite smoothly with yields pretty close to the estimated projections. The vines produced mature, ripe and intense fruit without high sugars.
Martin Ray's Russian River Valley Reserve Pinot Noir is aged for sixteen months, 30 percent in new French oak and 70 percent in 1-4 year old French oak barrels. This oak driven Pinot Noir has surprising aromas of cream soda, raspberries and a hint of vanilla. Bright flavors of fresh raspberries and strawberries lead to a full, velvety mouthfeel and a smooth, lingering finish.

Drink now. 2,300 cases made. –JL" -Rated 87, Wine Spectator Untitled "Continues Martin Ray’s track record with this bottling, an elegant, likable Pinot Noir that appeals for its silky texture and forward fruit. Cherry, currant, toasty oak, vanilla and white chocolate flavors end with a spicy, clean finish. — S.H. (8/1/2008)" -Rated 88, Wine Enthusiast
