Maybe it's the bright, sun-drenched days. Or the cool factor that comes from the Pacific Coast. But Zins rock around these parts. And Paso Creek's Paso Robles Zinfandel is a prime example of the region's rich bounty of burly flavors.
On the terraced river basin of the Paso Creek vineyard a few miles east of town, the Zinfandel blocks sit up on a bluff. The parched soils and sunshine give the grapes an added exhilaration. And, because the 2006 season was particularly raucous (spring lingered and late summer sweltered), the fruit ripened fast and furious. This is a big, full-bodied, frank, and forthright wine that somehow manages to retain a touch of its wild side. Exactly what you'd expect from Paso Robles.
