The 2005 Beaulieu Vineyard Reserve Tapestry weaves five classic varietals Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec into an elegant, beautifully balanced wine. The deep, expressive aromas and flavors are filled with black cherry, briary blackberry, cassis, dark cocoa, violet and cedar character. Cabernet Sauvignon's deep berry and cassis flavors are the firm backbone of the blend, while Merlot adds round, fleshy black cherry and cocoa notes. The Cabernet Franc perfumes with hints of violets and the Petit Verdot and Malbec enhance the ruby color and spiciness. This wine makes a delicious foil for mesquite-grilled steak, filet mignon with shiitake mushrooms and roast lamb.

Elegant, balanced, complex and polished, finishing with firm tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2014. 25,000 cases made. –JL" -Rated 89, Wine Spectator Untitled "A blend of all five Bordeaux varieties, the ’05 Tapestry is a soft, rich wine. It’s full-bodied and satiny in red and black cherry, currant, anise and cocoa flavors. Immediately appealing, it should develop well over the next 6–8 years. — S.H. (12/15/2008)" -Rated 92, Wine Enthusiast Untitled "12% Merlot; 4% Cabernet Franc; 2% Malbec; 2% Petit Verdot. Nicely assembled red and black cherry fruit aromas are joined by suggestions of vanilla beans and rich loam, and while this wine has some of the same attractive elements as the bottlings above, it is less complete overall and seemingly less keen in its focus. Its pieces are in good proportion, and a grabby edge of tannin will go away with a bit of bottle age." -Rated 89, Connoisseur's Guide to California Wines
