Founded by Jim Borsack and Duffy Keys in 2003, B Cellars winery is the collaboration of two like-minded individuals that shared a vision and, through a happenstance meeting, brought to life their dream of creating a food-centric winery focused on blending varietals using a combination of Old and New World wine making perspectives. Soon after, they met their third key player, Kirk Venge. Named “one of the Top 20 New Winemakers in the World” by Food & Wine Magazine (October 2005), Kirk brings with him a 37-year winemaking legacy through his father, Nils Venge, and a keen understanding of the Napa appellation. A bond was established almost immediately between Jim, Duffy and Kirk. With Kirk’s passion for great wine, first-hand knowledge and commitment to excellence, it quickly became apparently that he was the ideal winemaker for B Cellars.
B Cellars grew out of a love for food and wine but evolved into a passion and drive to craft fine wines that surpass the expected. Utilizing a multi-vineyard, multi-varietal winemaking strategy, acquiring and blending Napa Valley's finest grapes, and employing a team of passionate, hard-working staff with impeccable credentials are just a few of the qualities that make B Cellars a unique and memorable winery. B Cellars produces matchless blends that are favored by chefs and restaurateurs for their distinct character, depth, and food-friendly "layers" of flavor.
This wine begins with a deep garnet hue leading immediately to sensations of blackberry, ripe black cherry and herbs de Provence; followed by plush maraschino cherries, lifted barrel vanillin and a wide array of black fruit aromatics. The evolution persists for several minutes. The palate is packed with black fruit, enveloped in round tannins and plenty of structure. Balanced, generous, smooth and polished this blend will age well over the next 8-10 years. 62% Cabernet 38% Syrah.
