Mouthwatering aromas of ripe Gravenstein apple, pear and citrus, along with background hints of honeysuckle and hazelnut, fill the nose of this Chardonnay. In the mouth, the wine shows supple textures, rich apple and lemon flavors with a touch of oak spice on a lush yet vibrant finish.
The 2006 vintage began slowly during a cool, wet spring with a frost that reduced crop by about a third. The delayed season proved a blessing by July as temperatures spiked to over 100 degrees for a few days; most clusters still consisted of green, hard berries not susceptible to heat damage. Cool weather returned close to harvest and further prolonged the ripening process. They took advantage of this extensive hang time, harvesting fully ripe fruit with excellent acidity in the last week of September, well before the advent of rain in October.
