Cuvaison's Single-Block wines embody the most intense expression of fruit that the winery’s Carneros vineyard offers. The entire Cuvaison estate comprises seventy-four distinct blocks, fifty Chardonnay and twenty-four Pinot Noir, with each block expressing different characteristics based on rootstock, clonal selection, exposure, climate and soil type. The best of these, Block F5, produces the fruit for Cuvaison’s single-block Pinot Noir. Block F5 occupies the western slope just above the Carneros Estate Winery. Planted to the Dijon clone 115 and fashioned by the chilling fog, Block F5, which is farmed organically, always produces a Pinot Noir of stunning character. Estate bottled by Cuvaison Estate Wines, the 2006 Cuvaison Pinot Noir Block F5 features a well-focused Pinot with dense flavors of wild strawberry and black plum backed by sandalwood and allspice.

Intense and balanced, with firm, dry tannins. Drink now through 2011. 804 cases made. –JL" -Rated 87, Wine Spectator Untitled "The F5 bottling is proving to be a good one for Cuvaison. While the ’06 doesn’t have the structural complexity of the ’05, it’s a very fine Pinot Noir. With a silky texture and a furry edge of fine tannins, its cherry, black raspberry, red currant, mocha and spice flavors are complex and pleasing. Best now through 2012. — S.H.
