The Pommard clone makes up 55% of the wine and brings the intense boysenberry and highly unique pomegranate juicy fruit that gives the wine loads of fruit and a full mid-palate and the Wadensvil (45%) provides a backbone of tannin and acidity that add dimension, class and complexity to the explosive fruit profile. The wine not only stands up to the 33% new oak, it completely overwhelms it. This deeply purple wine has a tremendous amount of stuffing that makes is boisterously appealing for the short term but the pure intensity is checked by great natural acidity which will make it something worth sticking in the cellar. This is an extroverted Pinot Noir. There are dimensions of ripeness, concentration, intensity and depth that all threaten to pin the needle but at the same time there is acidity and structure afforded by the older vines that provide just enough restraint to make this a terrifically interesting wine. This is serious bang for the buck.

"The 2007 Pinot Noir Croft Vineyard was sourced from a 25-year-old parcel. Medium ruby-colored, it displays a fragrant perfume of spice box, smoke, violets, cherry, and raspberry. On the palate notes of earth, mineral, and anise emerge from this smooth-textured wine. Forward, savory, and well-balanced, it can be enjoyed over the next 6-8 years. Veteran vigneron Patricia (Patty) Green was the original winemaker at Torii Mor before purchasing the old Autumn Wind Winery in 2000 along with partner Jim Anderson and renaming it Patricia Green Cellars. Current production stands at 10,000 cases with distribution in 20 states. All of the Patricia Green wines are fermented naturally, see about one-third new oak, and only Cadus barrels are used in the cellar. The wines are discussed in the order in which they were presented at the winery in July, 2009." -Rated 89, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

" Bright red. Musky red berry and cherry aromas are complemented by notes of violet and licorice. Firm, finely etched berry and cherry skin flavors are refreshingly bitter and nicely framed by silky tannins. The licorice and floral notes repeat on the long, mineral-driven, nervy finish." -Rated 90, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
