"Sharply focused, with a pretty beam of plum, currant and black cherry flavors, framed by spicy, cedary oak and finishing with dry tannins. Best from 2002 through 2012. 1,956 cases made. –JL" -Rated 92, Wine Spectator

"The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa exhibits an opaque purple color as well as a gorgeous nose of pure cassis and blackberries with flinty notions in the background. Full-bodied, powerful, tannic, pure, and backward, it needs another 8-10 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2035+." -Rated 92, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Saturated dark ruby. Vibrant black raspberry, cassis and smoke nose, with a floral nuance and a slightly grapey quality. Full, sweet and deep; nicely delineated cassis flavor is unusually accessible for a Dunn cabernet this young. Finishes with substantial but suave tannins. This wine may still be acidified, says Dunn, who points out that Howell Mountain cabernet picked ripe enough for full phenolic development typically has pHs in the very high 3.9-4.0 range following the malolactic fermentation; the pHs of his finished wines, he adds, are typically 3.6-3.65. Too early to assess, but obviously a very ripe, strong vintage." -Rated 90, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
