Handsome ruby-red color. Outstanding fruit, with a noseful of red berries, black cherry, black pepper, hints of tobacco. These elements come through on the palate, revealing a full-bodied wine. In mid palate is round and velvety with an added touch of vanilla and toast, followed by a long and smooth finish. Very, very elegant. WINE SPECTATOR selected it as both TOP-SCORING Merlots around the world and also one of the Best Values in Merlot.

"The 2006 Alpha Merlot Apalta Vineyard saw eighty percent of the wine spend 12 months in French oak, the balance in stainless steel. Dark ruby/purple in color, it has a stylish nose of cedar, spice box, red currants, and black currants. Supple-textured with ample ripe fruit, it has a bit of sweet tannin and attractive flavors leading to a medium length finish. Drink it over the next 4-6 years.
