Cooler then normal spring with warmer then normal August and harvest - the season created ideal growing conditionsfor intense aromas and flavors.
Tasting Note
Dark and rich with complex notes of black currant, very slight minty aroma. Deep intense flavors with soft, silky tannins on a long, lingering finish showing touches of nutmeg and cinnamon
The deep colors and intense flavor extraction were aided by the gently pumpovers occurring twice daily during fermentation. 18 months in French oak barrels, half new and half one-year-old contributed to the soft, silky tannins and the long finish.
Ripe black fruit, toasty oak and allspice flavors follow pleasant earthy aromas of juniper berries and cassis.
