Pisco. I'd never even heard of it before, but one can't be in Chile for very long without either hearing, seeing, or being somehow introduced to Pisco, the (unofficial?) adult national beverage. While Pisco originated in Peru, the Chileans are justifiably proud of their own Pisco brands, and are quick to share them with newcomers. Since this site is dedicated to Chile, my focus here is on Chilean Pisco. Chilean Pisco is an aged, fermented drink made from the Muscatel grape. The largest producer of Pisco is the Capel company located in the Elqui Valley on the outskirts of Vicuņa about an hour's drive from La Serena.
