This bottle gives of a joyous expression of Merlot. The aromas are a combination of ripe black cherry, red berries and licorice accented by smoky, spicy oak. The flavors are open, bright red fruit in the mouth, with soft tannins and a long, supple finish. This full flavored Merlot is a great match for roasted duck or quail as well as grilled beef or lamb. It also pairs nicely with simpler fare, such as fresh herb and tomato pasta, barbecued hamburgers or pizza.

"Ripe and classy, this wine, with a little Cabernet, captures the rich power of a fine Bordeaux blend. Itís very dry, and has intricate, dusty tannins that frame blackberry, cherry, mocha, dried herb and oaky spice flavors. Easy to find, with 15,300 cases produced. ó S.H. "11% Cabernet Sauvignon; 2% Petit Verdot. There is nothing especially flamboyant about this wine, but it is all varietal in its defined, ripe-cherry fruit, and it exhibits the easy and supple feel for which the varietal is noted. It is nicely balanced and filled out by a deft bit of oak. In short, it is an honest and very well-made Merlot that can take a few years of age, but it drinks nicely now with simple beef dishes." -Rated 87, Connoisseur's Guide to California Wines
