Pauillac Bordeuax
The second label of Grand Puy Ducasse
This magnificent château dating from the 19th c. has the unique feature of being entirely within the town, in the very heart of Pauillac facing the Gironde. Already cultivated and much appreciated in the 17th c., it was without doubt part of a large 60-hectare estate, finally constituted in the 18th c. by Pierre Ducasse, one of the most important land-owners in Pauillac and grandson of Arnaud, when nearly 2/3 of the estate were planted to vines and called Ducasse-Grand-Puy-Artigues-Arnaud. At the present time the 55-hectare vineyard is divided into three sections: whereas to the north the vines abut onto those of Lafite and Mouton, in the centre they lie in the place called Grand-Puy itself and to the south on the plateau of Saint-Lambert. This variety of different soils and a judicious choice of grape varieties make Grand-Puy Ducasse an elegant, thoroughbred wine with a subtle bouquet which reaches develops ideally over the course of years. Grand-Puy Ducasse also produces a second label with the name: Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse
