Pauillac Bordeaux

Plenty of chocolate, spice and berry character. Full-bodied, with rich tannins that build on your palate. It goes on and on. Very well done. Score range: 92-94 Wine Spectator

Second wine of the La Rose Trintidon

The original estate dates back to the year of the American Revolution, 1776. In 1882, its wines were awarded the Silver Medal at the Exhibition in Bordeaux and again in 1889 at the Universal Exhibition in Paris. It was around this time that the magnificent Château, with its landmark "campanile" on the roof, was built by the Comte de Lahens. In the 1920's, the vines were pulled out in an unsuccessful attempt at cattle ranching by a wealthy Russian émigré. The estate fell into neglect. It was in 1966 that Henri and Elysee Forner purchased the estate and took about the enormous tasks of completely replanting the vineyards, building a modern cellar and restoring the Château. With the guidance and support of the famed University of Bordeaux enologist, Emile Peynaud, the vines were selected and the vineyards laid out. Château Larose-Trintaudon, by the 1980's was gaining critical acclaim and its wines became the number one selling Bordeaux Château sold in America. In 1986, new owners - AGF Insurance, purchased the estate. The Forner's stayed until 1988 in order to ensure a smooth transition. The new team at Larose-Trintaudon combines the experience of senior managers who have been in the Bordeaux wine trade for many years; like Jean-Paul Gardere, who was Manager at Château Latour for over 20 years and now consults the youthful Franck Bijon, the Technical Manager, who had been the Assistant Technical Manager at Latour. Over 46 men and women are part of the permanent team that dedicate themselves to making great wine at Château Larose-Trintaudon. Recent vintages speak for themselves.

Cabernet Sauvignon 80%, Merlot noir 20%
