St. Emilion Bordeaux One of the most favored sectors in the 2000 vintage included the vineyards between Figeac and Cheval Blanc, as well as those on the Pomerol border (i.e., La Conseillante and L'Evangile). The 2000 Yon-Figeac, the finest effort yet produced by this estate, is a sleeper of the vintage. Moreover, it should be released at a reasonable price. Rated 89-92 Robert Parker Fascinating aromas of tobacco, berry, mineral and dried herbs. Full-bodied, with juicy, fine tannins and a long finish. Best wine ever from this estate. Score range: 89-91 Wine Spectator The wine of Château Yon-Figeac is known for its qualities of finesse and tenderness which make it much sought after by wine lovers. In addition to its bouquet, much appreciated by connoisseurs, derived from the goelogical composition of the subsoil, there is its attractive clear, bright colour, a sure testimony to the assiduous and expert care lavished on this property to ensure perfect purity. The vineyard, some 25 hectares in size, is planted to 4/5 Merlot and 1/5 Cabernet Franc, the usual grape mix in the grand crus and starting point for "breed". The pruning which has been adopted throughout this reconstructed vineyard is the single Guyot system with low yield. The way the vineyard is laid out ensures modern methods of cultivation with very fast, mechanized treatment which can easily be multiplied. The installation of the vat house with rapid vinification provides the best possible conditions of maceration and temperature to obtain that delicate taste which, by ensuring the product's "distinction", retains the favour and the regular custom of a select clientele. The combination of these advantages, developed by the same family for several generations, has maintained the long-standing reputation of Château Yon-Figeac and is a sure guarantee for the future.
