"Open, with a gossamer texture and a vibrant structure. Lacy and filigreed, with lime, peach and mineral flavors gliding to an almost tart finish. Best from 2008 through 2018. 400 cases made. –BS" - Rated 89, Wine Spectator
"The 2005 Serriger Schloss Saarstein Riesling Spatlese –dry tasting but not “trocken” at 13 grams residual sugar – represents the main harvest from the estate’s oldest vines (planted in 1943). Fermented in fuder but then moved to stainless steel to preserve freshness, this Spatlese offers intense aromas of pear, cherry and sweet herbal essences. Sleek, yet subtly creamy and decidedly slatey on the palate, it finishes with cherry, nut oil, herb, and pear skin persistence. I would hang on to this wine for a few years and then enjoy: the 2002 version – with similar winemaking and gross chemical analysis – is lovely today.
