The wine is brimming with fruit aromas and flavors biased to the black fruit end of the cabernet spectrum: plums, blackberry, black currant. Rich and full-bodied on the palate, this cabernet drinks well on release but will soften and develop with additional age. For those who seek youthful fresh cabernet fruit aromas and a more structured wine, drink it from 2008 through 2012. If you prefer the less fruity, more developed bottle bouquet aromas and a softer, more velvety wine on the palate, drink it from 2013 – 2023.
"Trim and balanced, with an elegant mix of cedary oak, nutmeg, dried currant and mineral notes. Medium- to full-bodied, this tapers off a bit on the finish, but offers lots of complexity, balance and easy-drinking appeal. Drink now through 2014. 15,000 cases made. –JL" -Rated 87, Wine Spectator
"Perhaps a bit less beholden to chocolaty richness than its mate under the "Reserve" designation, this one finds a narrower focus on black cherry fruit with hints of sweet loam and briar. It has a somewhat rounded first impression and then shows a modest bit of coarse tannin towards the back. It can be enjoyed now or in the next few years." -Rated 86, Connoisseur's Guide to California Wines
