This wine is a Bordeaux Future. It is not expected to arrive in stock until Spring/Summer 2006.
VINEYARD 9,73 hectares planted on gravely soil. Situated in the southern Médoc
in immediate proximity to Ch Giscours, Cantemerle and Cambon la Pelouse.
VARIETALS 42% Cabernet Sauvignon
38% Merlot
20% Petit Verdot
Average age : 23 years
PRODUCTION 3000 cs (low yields between 35-40 hl/ha on average)
VINIFICATION Hand-picked grapes with table sorting at reception. Fermentation
in stainless steel vats with a maceration on skins which lasts 5-8 weeks depending
on the vintage. Malolactic fermentation 100% in new-oak barrels.
Aged 80% in new oak barrels during 14 to 20 months (depending on vintage).
No filtration prior to bottling.
STYLE This is clearly a "modern", fruit-forward and opulent styled
wine.
MARKET NOTE The 1st vintage of Belle-Vue was the 1998. Previously, the wines
from this vineyard were sold under the Ch. de Gironville label.
Some may wish to call this a Médoc "garage" wine, perhaps
so, but at least its prices (similar to Chasse Spleen) makes it a very affordable
one.
