“This estate has been producing fabulous wines since 1997, with the finest four vintages to date including the 2000, 2001, 1999, and 1998. The 2003 is not up to the quality of those wines but one can’t say enough about the Garcin family, who, since their acquisition of this estate in 1997, has done an exemplary job in turning out high quality Pomerols.
From a difficult vintage for Pomerol, the 2003 Clos l’Eglise is an undeniable success. Although tougher-textured and more austere than the estate’s top vintages, it possesses good elegance as well as a sweet perfume of mocha, hazelnuts, black cherries, plums, and a hint of figs. Medium-bodied and elegant, with dry and austere tannins in the finish, it is best consumed over the next 7-10 years.” – Rated 89, Robert Parker
“Fresh and fruity with lovely berry, grapes and flowers. Full-bodied, round and delicious. Long. Best after 2006. 3,500 cases made. –JS” – Rated 88, Wine Spectator
