This is a fun yet serious Sparkling red wine that is incredibly rich in colour, and smells just like dark chocolate with raisins, mixed with strawberry and violet aromas. When you taste it, the fruit flavours literally explode in your mouth giving you an awesomely rich, concentrated, pure fruit experience with a beautifully balanced finish. Yum!

A melange of sweet and bitter dark fruit flavors are brightened by cracked pepper. Turns sweeter on the finish, which leaves bitter chocolate and candied dark berry flavors in its path. (These were the best of a distinctly mixed lot of '06 releases from this producer. The 2006 The Scooter Merlot South Australia was fat and sweet but innocuous, with no obvious varietal character, while the 2006 The Maitre D' Cabernet Sauvignon South Australia was candied, sticky and liqueur-like. The 2006 Two Left Feet South Australia, a blend of shiraz, merlot and cabernet, reminded me of a berry-flavored brandy. The 2006 The Boxer Shiraz South Australia was fiery with alcohol, with a viscous texture and a rather abrupt finish. As for the set of 2005s, they were among the more bizarre wines I have ever tasted, with sickly-sweet, seemingly artificial flavors, colloidal textures and alcoholic burn. The Enchanted Path Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon McLaren Vale and Carnival of Love Shiraz McLaren Vale reminded me of a cross between IHOP syrup and cough medicine. By all accounts these wines, which are mostly earmarked for the United States, are a runaway success.) " -Rated 87, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
