A very consistent vineyard, which always has very dark colour and black plum fruit with a gamey, leathery background. This has more to do with Cornas or Hermitage.

Reviews:

"Ripe, round and plush, with explosive black cherry, blackberry and exotic spice flavors that rush across the palate like a torrent, finishing with refined tannins and tremendous length. A serious wine that needs time to settle into itself. Best from 2008 through 2020" -Rated 93, Wine Spectator

"The exceptionally fragrant, dark purple 2003 Syrah Moritz Vineyard boasts an extraordinary perfume of acacia flowers, blackberries, cassis, roasted meats, and subtle wood. With fabulous concentration, an expansive, savory texture, well-integrated acidity, alcohol, and wood, and a remarkable finish with plenty of sweet tannin, it can be drunk now or cellared for 12-15 years. " -Rated 95, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"This Syrah is still a baby, but is already just a gorgeous expression of pure plum fruit. It's not lush yet—it will probably be drinking its best in around 2012. In the meanwhile deep, intoxicating whiffs of black peppercorns, wheat bread, dried fruit, and fresh plums and berries will just have to hold you over. — D.T. (3/1/2005)" -Rated 93, Wine Enthusiast

"Deep, opaque black-ruby color. Seriously deep aromas of ripe cherry, Valrhona chocolate, licorice candy and iron-like raw steak. Sweet and very dense on the palate, with open-knit cherry, plum and blackberry liqueur flavors. Thick and rich on the finish, with big but harmonious tannins. "My Cornas," says proprietor/winemaker Roman Bratasuik." -Rated 91, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
