The Seven Surveys is Peter Lehmannís tribute to the pioneering families who settled the Barossa in the 1840ís, many of whose descendants are still tending vineyards on the land their forebears took up so long ago. These early settlers came to the Barossa with vine cuttings; many from an original collection gathered in France and Spain and brought them to Australia in the early 1800ís. Many of these low yielding, old dry grown bush vines survive today and their growers are proud guardians of these vineyards, some of the oldest in the world on their original roots.
As winemakers, they treasure this resource as the origin of quality for their wines. These three varieties are perfectly complementary and when blended together produce a wine which is soft, complex and very approachable.
Vibrant red in colour, the wine has soft aromas of black fruits, heaps of cherry and a touch of mourvedre spice. A medium-bodied, fresh, youthful wine of beautiful velvet softness and good balance: a very approachable and quaffable drop.
