Palo Alto, meaning "Tall Tree" is named for the massive trees that tower over this estate's vineyards in the Maule Valle in Chile.
Héctor Urzúa, winemaker of Palo Alto, has dedicated over 20 years searching for the best vineyards within Chile and has found the premium conditions for each of these varieties in specific regions within Chile’s famed Maule Valley. The winery's vineyards are gently caressed by a Mediterranean climate with an extended dry season and very sunny days.
"I tried the 2007 Palo Alto Reserve, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Syrah, and was boggled by its refinement and finesse." -Matt Kramer, Wine Spectator

Tobacco and loam notes frame the muscular finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Syrah. Drink now through 2011." -Rated 89, Wine Spectator Untitled "The 2007 Palo Alto Reserva is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Carmenere, and 15% Syrah. Aromas of cedar, tobacco, spice box, cassis, and blueberry are enticing. This is followed by a plush, crowd-pleasing wine with gobs of flavor and a fruit-filled finish. It is a remarkable value for drinking over the next three years." -Rated 88, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
