The Baron de Luze range was created in the mid-19th Century as a tribute to the founder of the wine merchants’ house, Baron Alfred de Luze. The wine is made from a selection of the best grapes and the best wines, the result of close collaboration between the winegrower and our cellar-master. The wine is matured in French oak barrels for 8 or 9 months to give it the special characteristics that are the expression of Maison de Luze’s ancestral expertise. Baron de Luze red is a brilliant, intense ruby colour with purplish tints. The initial fine, pleasant aromas give way, when the wine is shaken, to a light fruitiness and elegant aniseed notes. Initially clean-tasting, rounding to a good balance between ripe fruit and mellow tannins. The elegant oakiness and slight toasted aroma are signs of a good-quality barrel. The tannins are still young but hold out promise for the future. Red berry flavours are gently revealed in a harmonious finish and satisfying balance. Serve with terrines, barbecues, fricassees, cheeses with a blooming rind or firm cheeses. |
