History
Popularized by the brewpub explosion from the late 80’s onward. The style is open to the brewers’ interpretation.
Impression
A light bodied American Ale brewed with a significant portion of wheat. The base beer is very mild and not overpowering in any one aspect. After aging on raspberries for two days the beer picks up a noticeable fruity aroma and flavor. FRUIT BEERS SHOULD STILL TASTE LIKE BEER! The aroma and flavor from the fruit enhances the beer but does not overpower it. The beer is hazy from the raspberries.
Tasting Notes
Brewed with the German pilsner malts and hops; the beer is aged on a raspberry puree from Oregon. There are no artificial flavors or extracts. It is a great beer for drinking on hot summer days; very refreshing, crisp with a bright fruity palate and aroma.
