"The 2009 Chardonnay presents an intriguing combination of ripe, varietal fruit and insistent minerality. This shows outstanding length and plenty of class. Though not declared on the label, all of the fruit comes from the Pisoni vineyard; two-thirds is clone 4 planted in 1982 while the other one-third is Wente planted in 1999. The wine was aged in 40% new oak and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015.
Gary Pisoni was one of the first – if not the first – people to believe in the potential of the Santa Lucia Highlands as a region capable of producing first-rate wines. In order to avoid confusion with his own Pisoni Pinot Noir and Pisoni vineyard, Gary Pisoni and his sons Mark and Jeff use the Lucia label for all of their wines that don’t carry the Pisoni vineyard designation." -Rated 91, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
