| This VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) cognac is made from the two finest crus - the Grande and Petite Champagne - and aged for eight to twelve years. This extended period (which is three to seven years longer than the mininmum legally required) yields a delicate bouquet and delightful balance of oak and floral flavours. Courvoisier VSOP was awarded a Gold Medal in the 1996 International Wine and Spirit Competition, and was also judged Best VSOP Cognac in the 1998 International Spirits Challenge. |

| In 1817, the future King George IV of England asked Hennessy to supply him with a “very superior, old and pale cognac”. By the end of the 19th century, V.S.O.P, as it had become known, had firmly established its reputation among the nobility.
The product of a gradual blend of over 60 eaux de vie taken from the four leading vineyards in the Cognac region, V.S.O.P is slowly matured in old barrels from which most of the tannin has been extracted.
A delicate blend of wood notes and spices, punctuated by the scent of cloves and cinnamon. Discreet, subtle and harmonious, it is characterized by a the fragrance of honey and a suggestion of liquorice. |

| Centuries ago, it was discovered that Cognac shipped in oak barrels from France to its Colonies around the world improved dramatically during the long sea voyage. The rolling of the sea, the temperature variations, the frequent air pressure and weather changes, and the sea all combine to round off the spirit in a beautiful way. With 20th century technology came the commercial expedient of shipping cognac in bottles, rather than in oak barrels. The magical effect of the ocean voyage was lost because spirits do not mature after bolting. I have revived the seagoing tradition, and taken it one step further. I send my already aged Cognacs, still in the oak barrels in which they have aged for many years, on a three-month sea voyage around the world before bottling. Mellowed 10 years in cask, it is full-fruited and vigorous, with hints of plums and prunes in the lingering, mellow finish. 40% alcohol by volume. |
