Each variety selected for this blend brings its individual characters and distinct personality: spiciness from the Syrah, cherry and raspberries from the Sangiovese and Barbera, blueberries from the Tannat, cassis from the Grenache and chocolate from Mourvèdre. A wonderful mix of the best each variety has to offer.
This wine is made from grapes harvested at Hanna's Red Ranch in the Alexander Valley and Hanna's Bismark Mountain Vineyard high in Sonoma County's Mayacamas mountains. Every year there are certain lots of Bismark Mountain wines that don't quite make the grade for that luxury program, but are delicious wines nonetheless....
Winemaker Notes: We complement this powerful fruit by using only small, thin-staved French oak barrels with which to age this wine. The resulting wine is supple, with flavors of cedar, black currant and dark chocolate. Look also for hints of smoky toastiness and concentrated black cherries.
